If you are in a motorhome go to Seaford, 5 miles east along the coast. As you approach the foot of the hill up to town turn right, go under the railway bridge then drive right along the promenade to the far end. Ovenight parking is permitted for motorhomes, but NOT caravans. Public convenience nearby and a number of pubs and takeaways in Seaford.
If you are in a caravan you can overnight at the Buckle caravan park, mentioned above, which is on the right just after you pass under the railway bridge. Alternatively, if you're in the Caravan Club, there is a pleasant little CL at South Heighton, open all year. Just a mile from the terminal and you almost pass it as you drive down the A26 from Lewes.
I would not recommend overnight parking in the ferry terminal or around the warehouses, or even Sainsbry's car park. Newhaven was once a pleasant port but these days it is a bit run down and seedy, particularly at night. Seaford is lovely. We have to say that cos we live there.
