The "fit to travel" part must also be stamped in the passport by your local vet prior to travel. Don't know what they do when they run out of space in the passport at this section for frequent travellers though.
Sorry missed a bit, yes the Pet Passport Office do check the passport, to make sure the vet has stamped it.
I took my dog away 9 times using the pet passport scheme in the early noughties, until she died in 2007. We never took her to the vet prior to travelling from the UK for a "fit to travel" check, and it was never a problem. I think that section is more intended for animals travelling alone to indemnify the carrier (shipping agent, airline etc). However, I am sure a vet will happily do the check, and charge you for it!!
Has anyone ever had a problem because this was not done before leaving the UK?

hi GBpub
I was only trying to help, I thought you still had to get the blood test to get the passport. As it is only 2 years since I got my dog done.
My apoloigises, Murano but your vet will keep you right.
I've taken my dog to France last 2 summers, two different vets no problems around 50-55 euros but that was including the tick and worm treatment. The dog weighs about 36kgs.
Enjoy your trip, we even took the dog to Paris on the train and on the river seine very dog freindly enjoy

Hi Blueexpo97.
Le Clapas, looks a nice campsite, I guess you will be using Val's none Toll route with the van?.
I keep thinking about a FC's, and have done plenty of homework, I think it's a natural progression from a Tent, rather than go to a TT. and of course maybe then onto a Caravan or even a MotorHome.
But there again, I may make the leap, straight to a Touring van, I know I am going to have to ditch the tent at some stage in my life, as much as we both love it, there is a lot of work involved in setting up, although I still enjoy that part.
But the time will come, when the mind is willing, but the body won't be lol.
I recon I can keep going with the Tent till I am 60, which is a good few years of yet, so I have started saving already, for when decision time comes.
I work close to the Trafford center each Thursday, and there is a Caravan show at Event City, later this month, which is kinda next to the Trafford Center, so I will pop in to get a few caravan ideas.
