Its got to that time of year again when I live for my summer holiday! Last year we took a trailer tent direct from the Eurotunnel to the Vendee for 4 weeks and loved it there (Clos des Pins and Aux Coeurs Vendeens) with the wife and 2 kids 13 & 7. Wanting to do similar but because of the tiring drive we have decided to do 1st week in Normandy (maybe Camping Bellevue near Villers) and then head down for the other 3 weeks to a single campsite. We want a change and prefer being near a beach with pool etc for kids. The favourites are either L'Ocean (Brem), Les Dunes (Bretignolles) or Pong (landevieille). The drive back is not the issue as there is no tent to put up at the end of it! Can anyone give any recent feedback on these campsites or suggest any similarly priced alternatives? Much appreciated

when are you thinking of going? We had a look round Pong the last week of August and it was deserted. Nice site but as we holiday the last two weeks of August we wouldnt choose Pong for that reason, also you'd still have to drive to the beach.

Stayed at Oceano Dor two years ago its really lovely, clean and good facilities. Also stayed at les dunes at bretignolles but I dont think it has camping pitches any more.
Would highly recommend Les Dune at La tranches sur mer, its really nice and walking/cycling distance through pine forest to the beach.

The website still indicates that Camping pitches are available although I can't find the tariffs for pitches!

Thanks for replies. Looking to do Normandy 4-11 of August and then 20 days in the Vendee. Went on Les Dunes site but they don't qute a price for "emplacements". I have emailed them but their response appeared to be a standard request reply but it did state that there pitches were 90m². Pong has good feedback but is it that much better that we would be prepared to be further inland? Only info on L'Ocean seems decent from Zoover! We also found the area we were in in the last week of August last year closed around us, not that it bothered us too much though!

Well done that man! I thought I was usually good at winkling out information from the back of beyond of some websites!
If you don't mind a 10-15 min drive to the great beaches, the la Guyonnierre (not so far from bretinolle (spelling?!)) that you've already mentioned. La G is fab! Third year this year. Do try and get on 'la pointe' field though :)
