Can anyone advise me if this site is likely to be busy in early June? Trying to arrange a holiday for next year, after spending last 2 years at La Croix Du Vieux Pont I am looking for a site with loads to do nearby and this seems to fit the bill. I only wanted to go for 10 nights but hubby has put the foot down and said he'll only go for 14 or not at all! Aynyway Im digressing, we are considering staying from 4th-18th June 2012 and I would like to know from anyone who has been to the site in and around this time is it likely to be busy (have a 4 yr old girl to entertain) and also is the weather likely to be warm and sunny at this time. After spending a week at Duinrell September past where it rained continuously I am hoping to spend the majority of the time in the sun for our next holiday. Welcome any advice. thanks.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
One of the guys i work with went to bella a couple.of years ago and is still talking about it, said it was perfect and his.youngest was similar ages to your wee one. He flew from glasgow and stayed in a static, if your thinking of driving i would be interested in hearing what route your going and how long it actually takes. He went late june and the site was very busy, also the weather was scorching...have fun!
Shame you can't go a little later - but I suppose you want school holidays! Bella Italia takes Camping Cheques on the following dates:
28/08/2011 to 23/10/2011, 24/03/2012 to 04/04/2012, 10/04/2012 to 25/05/2012, 11/06/2012 to 30/06/2012 and from 01/09/2012 to 28/10/2012
You could pay 'normal' prices for your first week, up to 11th June, and then your second week using Camping Cheques. Depending on the dates you choose, using Camping Cheques could save you up to 25 euros per night as prices in June are 17 to 19 euros for the pitch, plus 9.20 euros to 11 euros each adult! A Camping Cheque would buy you the same package of pitch and two adults, and from the French Camping Cheque website costs just £12.65! Child supplements would be payable on the top - but you'd pay these anyway.
Hi we went to Bella Italia in 2010 and absolutely loved it. We went in August so it was at its busiest but it wasn't OTT. Its a massive site but I imagine in June it will be much quieter and there are some really nice pitches there, you can't choose your own (although they may give you a few to select from in quieter periods) make sure you are very specific about what you want, we were and got pretty much everything we asked for (some pitches can be near to the bars or very close to the restaurants which can be noisy at night or first thing in the morning). You can walk into Peschiera along the Lake which has a few bars, restaurants and ice cream shops, plus boat rides.
Can't guarantee sunshine but it should be pretty decent, if you are tenting don't request a pitch on the lake front - as nice as this is, there can be electric storms at night and they seem to come in from the lake, we saw a few wrecked awnings and the people in the tent near to us but lake front spent a night in their car because of these. Its quite amazing a few hours of lightning and rain giving way to beautiful hot sunny days - I don't want to put you off with this as the place is full of tents but you do need the protection of a caravan or motorhome in front of you, we had a motorhome between our caravan and the lake and became very glad of it! Also, Italian sites don't have any handwash or loo roll so you all need to have a little washbag with you everytime you pop to the loo.
We went there in late May 2009 and the site was full when we got there and had to wait for a pitch to be free. How busy it will be will generally depend on the German school holidays. I think you can make a judgement from the dates that Val has posted when they don't accept Camping Cheques. Even when its full it dosen't feel overcrowded and at least it has decent sized pitches. Its a lovely location right at the base of Lake Garda and delightful town of Peschiera is a short walk away. You can take ferry trips from the town and Gardaland is only a couple of kilometers away. As to weather it was certainly hot when we were there. Having been to both the sites you mention Bella Italia would win hands down.
Thanks to everyone for replying. So glad to have lots of positive reports. We are actually flying this time and staying in a static. After driving the last 2 years to Holland and France from Glasgow in our jeep the fuel costs were a lot more than flights and car hire would have been so decided to fly next year instead. We are travelling outside peak holidays so that's why I wasn't sure if it would be busy or not. Hoping there will be other families there so my daughter can make friends. The weather is also a concern so we may be able to switch to the last 2 weeks in June instead but just waiting on work confirming those dates. I am really excited now. Roll on June.
