We are making our 8th visit to Le Paradis in June this year. Its still our favourite site anywhere and the Kusters family who own and run the site are really nice. The staff are also very good and many of the staff have been there for years (which these days says a lot). Although we are grandparents now we have been there with our children and grandchildren and they have always had a lovely time.

We are going via Lac d'Orient as we intend to stay there for a week before we move to Le Paradis but not the best route if you only want an overnight on the way down. As other people have suggested Rouen, Chartres etc is probably the best route. Spend some time on via michelin and play around with the routes to find what suits you best.

Hope you have a great time.

John

Hope you do as well.

John

Hi yes you can ask for a pitch and we have asked for the same one as last year. Also when you get there they say you can move if you see one you prefer thats free. All pitches are big and shady - we made the decision to stay near the pool and bar end rather than the river end. The end pitches have lass shade in my view. The staff are very helpful.

The shop on site is fine - well stocked with fridge section (nice cheese etc), fresh fruit and veg, and fresh bakery (on site). We used to drive to the big supermraket at montinac - about 15 mins lovely drive straight road - you cant miss it! Not cheap but really good food and wine. I would say its the Sainsburys/? Waitrose price point but I decided to cook most nights and get nice bread, salad, meats etc so didnt mind as its nice food. There may well be a cheaper one but Im still drinking the great wine we got for 2 quid so Im off back next summer with a lorry! Bit sad - I used to go for a cool down in the heat of the afternoon !
I would recommend the village across the river, they do cheap canoe trips and theres a lovely selection of riverside cars and cafes. Just perfect.

Any queries just ask.

As Wakshane says you can book a pitch at Le Paradis but its a fairly hefty price (I think around 20€ if memory serves me right).

The Intermarche at Montignac was a bit old but they moved to a new premises just down the road in I think 2009 and now is very nice. When we were last there they were about to open a cefeteria which is usually very well priced and excellent value, especially for lunches.

We really like Montignac as even though it has the Lascaux caves it is far less well visited that places like Sarlat, Le Roque, Domme etc and retains a more "French" feel to it. Less well known but well worth a visit is Terrason old town which is not far away.

Well done jimJAM71, hope you have a great time. Just to whet the appetite here are a couple of photos of both the site and Montignac. I have posted the photos of the site before but not of Montignac. Hope they help.

Meant to include a shot of terrason as well in my last post but for some reason my web album didn't want to show it. Anyway I reloaded it into my web album and this seems to have worked. As i mentioned before, worth a visit.
