I'm charged with finding a week in the sun in the 1st week of June to celebrate a couple of significant birthdays. First thought was a cheap flight somewhere then camp in a mobile. Of course there are no cheap flights in that week because it's 1/2 term, about a thousand pound for 4 of us to Spain/Portugal etc. So the latest plan is to get the train to the South of France when the fares are released 90 days in advance. Any suggestions of campsites with mobiles for hire on the coast? Quite like the look of Neptune at Grau d'Agde.

Mark

Thanks Steve, I should have said I was thinking of somewhere nearer Marseilles or Montpellier as we will not have transport. Another place I've turned up is Carry le Rouet west of Marseilles, anyone been there?

can highly recommend Domaine de Massereau at Sommieres. Its just north east of Montpellier. Fantastic site with mobiles and log cabins to hire. We've stayed twice (camped) but had a look at their accomodation and its spotless. Town of Sommieres is lovely.

The train station nearest to Domaine de Massereau is at Lunel. This is about 15mins from the site. I think the nearest TGV is at Avignon and then the normal train line to Lunel.

There's a train station at Agde, and from there it's a short taxi ride to Camping Neptune.  Once you're there you can walk to the beach, walk into Agde, and (almost if you don't do a family shop) walk to the HyperU or Lidl!

From another post, on another forum, the mobiles at Neptune are reasonably priced.  I think it would fit your requirements admirably.  There's a small bar/restaurant/take-away on site, plenty of other restaurants at both Agde and Grau d'Agde, a twice weekly market at both places, and the Canal du Midi for a relaxing shady walk and to watch the boats negotiating the locks.

If  you don't want a massive all-singing, all-dancing site, then for a week's holiday where you don't need transport I think it would be a great place.

Thanks all, I'll have a look at Massareau. Quiet and peaceful would suit me but keeping everyone happy is the main thing. I'd seen your posts on Grau d'Agde Val, looks just the ticket. Now to get those cheap rail fares...

Club Farret at Vias Plage has direct access to a super beach and is only 5 minutes walk to some good restaurants.  Or the campsite restaurant is very reasonable.

I believe its about €20 for a taxi from Bezier airport to the campsite.  It is a Yelloh village owned campsite so, although a very good standard, might be too "full on" for your needs.

Hope this helps.
