hi, after many happy years camping around the uk we are thinking of spending our main 2 weeks summer holiday camping in france.has anybody got any advice,how easy is it, driving distances, taking the trailer on the ferry,pre book camp sites or just look around.are there any major pitfalls.we never use ehu just gas,is this widely available.

Yes, you'll find plenty of information there - if you can give details of holiday dates, for example, you will find recommendations for off-(French)season discount schemes like ACSI and Camping Cheques and regarding route planning (ViaMichelin is often suggested) for instance.

If you use Campingaz you should find no problem exchanging cylinders, but Calor is not available.

My experience is driving is a pleasure compared to the UK, not much traffic, they stick to the rules, no aggro, good roads..

I would say no to book, as we found better sites by just turning up. It's difficult to know what they are like from just looking at the Web.

Motorway services were clean and good, try and use as much French as you can and you will get good response.
