ACSI Card has many more sites. However, for us, Camping Cheque has more sites that we want to stay on, so we actually take both, and use both! The ACSI card only cost us £10.51 this year - and we saved more than that on just one night on an ACSI site last year! We've a few Camping Cheques left on our Gold Card and I've just managed to 'acquire' some more from my post, and my advert!
I think it's worth looking at the websites - both are easy to use. You can select an area and the whole list of sites in that area comes up. You can then see if the sites in that area are the sort you'd fancy. Go for ACSI or Camping Cheques, based on which gives you the best choice in the area you're planning.
If the children are under 6 years old then on some ACSI sites they are included in the price. Even if one is under 6 there would still be a saving as child supplements often start at 2 or 3 years and over. Those sites have an icon showing two children against the site name.

It will also depend a bit on when you're going. We went for the last two weeks of August and took (and used) both. However, there were more sites in the camping cheques scheme that were that we could use in August compared to ACSI. If we had to choose just one it would be camping cheques, even though you do have to buy them up front.

Pick out sites you fancy and then decide if they are ACSI or Camping Cheque sites.
We use ACSI most of the time now as we go in June and ACSI have more sites to choose from. Camping cheque sites seem to be more geared to the bigger sites but not exclusively.

we've got a camping cheques gold card but we wont be renewing it.To me the big advantage of the ACSI scheme is other than the upfront buying of the guide book you dont have to commit money upfront before you go unlike CC's. However some CC sites let you prebook which will give some people peace of mind.
We are probably going to go with ACSI this year and use the three remaining CC's at River Dart in Devon this May. Some of the UK sites accept CC's over BHs which is great.

I would have thought it best to research the sites you want to use and then see whether they accept Camping Cheques or the ACSI Card then the decision is made for you.

If you are not sure then do what we did!
I bought the acsi card as I did plan to use it and I also bought 3 camping chqs but on a silver card which meant I could always phone up to addd more on if needed. Last june we mainly used asci but in Sept it was camping chqs.
Just depended on what had more choice at the time!!
Good luck

I'd agree with others: research both websites, as only you can decide what sites tick all, or most, of your boxes, nobody else can decide that for you.
I'd also say though, don't buy too many Camping Cheques up front, others on here have done that only to find they didn't use them. Ok, so there is a ready re-sale market on here of people who will buy them off you, including yours truly, but that is not the purpose of buying the cheques. The "danger" with buying Camping Cheques is that in order to use them, you could tend to go for sites which you don't really want to go to.
I'd recommend ACSI, at least that way you have no up front charges, at least very little compared to Camping Cheques, unless you find a Camping Cheque site which ticks all your boxes, and you don't change your mind once you've bought them!!

I love the ACSI, about a tenner for the year. We did a good tour of France, Netherlands and Belgium last year and stayed on all ACSI listed sites and paid on average €13 a night. A bargain really...
