Hope someone can help out there with this question!

We are a family of 4 ie 2 adults and 2 children looking for a hotel within SNCF distance of Paris. We are looking to stop for 2 nights in Paris to show the kids the sights on the way back from 2 weeks camping in Provence.

Ideally close to Paris with nearby rail links to central Paris, secure parking for my van(height of carparks seems to be an issue in France) and the friends travelling with us willl have bikes on racks that would be easy pickings in non secure parking!

I hope someone out there has already soughted out these requirements for themselves and could help us.Already spent 2 hrs looking for something suitable but with no joy, hope someone can help.

                   Kind regards

                                 Tim

Can't help with hotels but have you thought of a campsite.  We stayed at Huttopia Versailles and they had rental accomodation available, not sure if they do 2 night stays for those though.  Trains to Paris (Eiffel Tower) were about 6 euros return pp  from the RER station at Porchfontaine - 6 minute walk away.  Access to the site was easy using the directions from their website.  It's not a cheap site but cost less than any hotel we found and it would probably be more secure than a hotel car park.

Do you mean your friends need rental accomodation of have they got a tent?

We looked up hotels with secure parking for our May holiday, and found that we could have four nights in a mobile home on a campsite for the price of one decent hotel near enough to Paris!  We booked ours through Eurocamp and it was very reasonable - a tent would have been cheaper still! You may be able to rent a mobile home which sleeps up to eight people - making it much cheaper than several hotel rooms.

Generally the budget hotel chains have secure parking, often accessible by a PIN pad on the gates - and I don't think I've ever noticed any height barriers.  Look up the Accor chain of hotels - they feature four chains on just the one website - Formule1, Etap, Ibis, and Mercure - each going up a price band.  B&B chain hotels have rooms which sleep four and again generally have gated parking.  However, I would check parking arrangements and parking costs with any hotel you want to book - parking may be different in the Parisian suburbs.

Have you tried using booking.com for your hotel search - where you can select numbers of people and numbers of rooms?

There is a place called St Witz which is on A1 north of Paris , after Ch de G airport. There are a number of hotels based there of different price brackets, and access to Paris is via RER at Rouissy or Vemars. If you select an hotel I would e- mail them re your security questions. Re your friends bikes I would be asking the hotel if they have a lock up room where they could be stored. The district is popular with commercial people, so language is not a problem, but availability maybe.
You say 2nights and SNCF. RER is the urban rail system, but if you really mean SNCF you can draw a circle 100 miles round Paris to find a camp site and be in by train in 13/4 hrs. but expensive for two days sight seeing.
