Hi, we have booked our first camping trip abroad to France (Camping Moulin de la Geneste) for the first 2 weeks of school summer holidays. Just wanted a bit of advice on the travel down. We have booked Eurotunnel for a 5am crossing with the plan of then driving all the way down in one go! via the Rouen route (we start in Lancashire). We were going to share driving while one sleeps. But after reading posts on here, think we may be asking too much! So have looked at hotels for overnight stops and dont seem to be able to find anything for the Friday night under £100 (2 adults 2 children age 11 &13) although Etap do a bedroom for 3 for about £36. Would we be able to sneek the 4th one in? On a budget so didnt want to spend a lot but also didnt want the hastle of putting tent up for 1 night! Was thinking around Chartres area for stopover if we decide not to drive in one hit. Any suggestions appreciated.

Chartres camping municipal here, if you are on a budget it would be cheaper to buy a couple of popup tents than stop in a hotel each way & you would have them for next yr as well.
Theres a hotel B&B in Chartres that do family rooms for 4, it's a few years since we stayed there but it should be less than £100 http://www.hotel-bb.com/reservation-hotel/lang/en/home - we payed about £50 a few years ago
There are threads on here about 'sneaking' an extra child in. We've done it in the past, as have others from their stories. No one would recommend it, and if you ask directly then you obviously shouldn't do it, but many people do!
