No help to you I'm afraid, but we have been in a tent many years ago - 3 times. From what I remember the roads were not that good then, but I'm sure someone who has been more recently will come along soon.
We've contemplated going back in our motorhome, for old times' sake, but have been reluctant to do so because of the roads.
Friends have done a season with HappyCamp in Corsica and loved it, but they did say it was wild country for the most part, and took a long time to get from anywhere to anywhere else!
I'd love to go too, but with a caravan, it's not easy!
We will be there in May/June with our caravan. Because of the small roads we will stay on the main N roads with the van and make trips in the surroundings with the car only.

Doesn't sound like it's changed much since we were there then. Not that practical for a motorhome then, at least not for a big motorhome. Perhaps time to get the tent out of the mothballs and use that one more time
There is also the additional cost of the ferry to Corsica, on top of the one from UK to France of course. Not sure if it's worth it, no idea what the cost would be for a MH, but years ago with car + tent it was quite pricey.
Cheapest crossings are from Livorno (Italy) but you have to take extra cost in account for fuel, toll, swiss vignets compared to f.e. Marseille/Toulon. Also the cheapest crossings leave Livorno in the afternoon and arrive 18.00/19.00h . Only after debarkement (min ½ hour) the search for a campsite can start.
We have chosen to take the night crossings from Marseille to Bastia (ETA Bastia 7.00h)
