Bit confusing cos when i go on the website the site that comes up is Isle Verte.
The website's a bit useless. Can't really see what the site looks like.
I've read the reviews which seem a bit mixed.
Anybody been and can tell me some more about the site.
We're a couple with a tent. Prefer quiet sites rather than all singing and dancing sites.
Thanks, Wendy

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We have been a couple of times and the last time was in early September 2010. Its on an Island overlooking the Chateau in Samur. The pitches along the river with the view are a bit more expensive. There is a lot of shady pitches amongst the trees and toilet blocks are dotted through the site. There is a bar/restaurant/takeaway that looks quite new. The site now has its own swimming pool now which is another change from our first visit when you have to use the Municipal Pool next door. I do have some pictures on my website. One of the reasons we decided to go back was that you can walk into Saumur from the site and there are some superb views from the Chateau of both the site on the other side of the river and the Loire Valley.
Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. We have stayed in the area a couple of years ago and have decided to stay again for a couple of nights on our way back from the Dordogne. We loved Saumur the last time we visited but we didn't like the site we stayed on.
Have you any pics of Il d Offard.
I haven't booked it yet so i'm open to suggestions if anyone has come across a really good site in the area.
Try Parc de Montsabert Coutures which is about twenty minutes drive from Saumur. This is a very nice but quiet site with easy access to Saumur, Angers, Fontenvrau etc.
I love the site, used to use Camping Cheques there. I have stayed on the riverside pitches for no extra charge, so that must be new. David's pictures brought it all back!
Very convenient for walking into the town, and cycling to the large supermarkets is easy. We had an idyllic Easter holiday there, in the middle of a heatwave, so perhaps I am biased, and wearing my rose coloured glasses.
We have stayed at this site three times out of season. Excellent for walking into Saumur. Recommend the big Brasserie at the start of the main street, on the left.
Watch out for the office closure over the long lunch hours.
Amboise, another Loire town, has a big municipal site that has easy walking access to the town in the way that L'Isle d'Offard has.
