We would like to try camping in Spain this year ,as weve been to France although we want to get the ferry to Satander or bilbao spend time there and drive up through france spending another two weeks in france at Gironde and the Loire Valley.

Ferries seem really expensive although weve had a good quote from sites abroad has any one else done this. We are also travelling with three children and a trailer tent.(is this a bad idea) .Any advice gratefully accepted

Went from Plymouth to Satander a few times several years ago with touring caravans & children.  Well worth the trip.  Stopped at a lovely site at La Franca in northern spain, has direct access to safe beach.  Also theres a good site just outside Santilliana had a look around that a couple of years ago whilst in the area.  When travelling up through france there are many sites some large some small ones on farms.  We found the sites through the Caravan Club European sites directory, so many lovely areas the children will love it.
