Has anyone else experience of camping in Chamonix?

I went there last year, and stayed at Camping Les Aroulles (sp?), which is a great little site. Easy to get everywhere by short walks.

Cheers

Been to chamonix area more times than I can remember but two of the better sites are les rosieres, very central location and the mer de glace which has A nice view of said glacier and views of the drus, both maybe 2/3 stars and pleasent but there are upwards of A dozen in the Chamonix valley and guess what?they all have great views!!

Ive walked the tour de mont blanc (two weeks) and climbed Mont Blanc twice so ive wild camped and used the excellent mountain refuges on many occasions,it really is A wonderful area!

Cool.

My mate and I tried the walk from the middle of Chamonix up to the Lac Glac (not sure of the spelling). We made it about 1/3 of the way, due to me being not quite as fit as i would like to be. We aim to go all the way this time. I'm going to start getting out a bit earlier this year to get fitter.

We will be staying at the same site, it's a nice small place, decent facilities for what we need, showers etc.
