Which part of the South? The Mediterranean coastline is more than 400 miles long. Are you looking at the Cote d'Azur/Riviera, the Rhone Delta/Camargue or the Western Med/Languedoc Rouisillon area? And what time of the year - in peak season the eastern end of the Med can be very busy indeed, where the middle and western end may be quieter. Do you mean the Mediterranean - some people consider anywhere south of Brittany, on the west coast, is 'the South of France'.
There are loads of sites to choose from, once the area is a bit clearer

Many Cote d'Azur sites will already be booked up for mid August. you may be too late.We used to go there then but the crowds and the traffic finally defeated us.
