Hi everyone

We are a new family to camping, only just started this year. Have 3 children 10, 7 and 2. For our summer holiday we have decided to go over to France to Logis Du Breuil site 23rd July to 3rd August. Just wondering on people's thoughts of the site, bearing in mind the age of our children. We picked this site due to the fab reviews and also wondered if anybody would be there at the same time, for a beer and wine!!

Thanks Barraclough family

It's a good choice for first timers - you have chosen well. Neat, tidy, safe secure, no language problems and lots of British company.

But our own tastes have changed and we have moved on, so I'm afraid I can't accept your kind invitation for drinks. I do hope you have a great holiday.

I am sure you will have a fab time, I would suggest you ask to pitch close to the play area for the kids, we have been going now for 5 years and my girls always want to return. We will be there the last 2 weeks of August so unfortunately cannot accept your offer.

Good choice.  Have only ever taken the caravan there, but should you be offered a choice between forest or prarie, head for the woods!  It can get pretty warm there with no shade.

We only spent one summer there and of course we were the exception to the rule. Quite unintentionally we ended up in the middle of a group of folk who had been there since god was a lad. They told us quite clearly that our pitch would be taken by more of their friends when we left. Despite us assisting in erecting tents they basically ignored us. I think, if you're taking children, Karende's advice to ask to be placed near the play area is a good one. There is a fair chance you will meet similar families. The trees can be very shady. The bar/restaurant is not cheap.

Hi,

We went to Le Logis Du Breuil a couple of years ago when our kids were 15, 12 and 9. In my opinion the site is family friendly and well run

Our kids mixed in with the others kids and they were safe on site.

There was a small sand pit and play area with a couple of table tennis tables (concrete ones). Towards the site shop and reception there is a multi-purpose play area for basket ball or football. The swimming pool was small but kept very clean. There was also a full size tennis court that can be hired by the hour.

There was a restaurant and a snack bar on site as well as a small shop for the essentials. Across the road from the site there was a restaurant and a larger shop selling newspapers etc…

Within 3-4 miles of the site (towards Royan) there a couple of large supermarkets.

We visited Royan a couple of times as well as Saint Georges-de-Didonne and Saint Palais-sur-Mer. The places are good to visit during the day or at night. The beaches in and around Royan were good but we found the beaches along the Grand Cote to be brilliant.

One thing worth considering is a visit to La Palmyre Zoo. We found it to be well worth the money. Our kids loved it. The town of La Palmyre also has a range of shops to visit plus a weekly market.

I hope this helps.

We will be there 28th July – 12th August.
