Were booked on it at the beginning of July too. If its a French boat it will be filthy with surly staff !!

Was your comment serious or an attempt at a joke?

French boats aren't all filthy with surly staff. Try the ones from Plymouth.

That was not our experience of Brittany Ferries! They are excellent!
Only problem is the prices for the crossing! Which is why we use DFDS!

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

It is a french boat, travelled on the Norman Spirit on this route a few times and was ok in a motorway service station way, but it was cheap so c'est la vie

The Norman Spirit - the boat that M. Dreyfuss has plied between Pompey and Le Havre for the past several years - is no more!!  It has been replaced by the Norman Voyager.

I have used this crossing 2 or 3 times a year since it started - after P&O pulled out of the western routes - and whilst the old 'Spirit' was never in it's first flush of youth on this route, I always found it more than adequate - especially as it costs about half of what Brittany Pirates charge.  I shall be sampling the 'Voyager' on the 10th June, en route to Le Mans.

The Norman Spirit has been leased to DFDS who are using it on the Dover - Calais route this summer. We travelled on it recently, and it was fine, though delayed by SWOT on the Jubilee BH weekend
