We are visiting France next week with our two young children and unfortunately the weather looks very unstable. We are taking the ferry to Calais and had planned to stay in a campsite in the north of France. Ideally we don't want to venture too far south due to time constraints, and we would be just as happy staying in Belgium. Can anyone recommend a good value holiday complex (we would ideally like to use our tent but would use a chalet) that has lots to do indoors when the weather is poor? We have tried Centreparks but they are fully booked.
Thanks
Dan

If you don't mind naturist, one here in Holland about 4hrs drive from Calais, all motorway. Its got an indoor pool, saunas, bar/restaurant & shop. Camping pitches don't get muddy in the rain because the grass is on sandy soil so rain water runs straight thru, or you can hire a chalet, it won't be busy because it ain't Dutch school hols.

Good site, we were there earlier this month.

Or if you don't fancy the above, but don't mind Holland rather than France what about Duinrell.

Under 4 hours from Calais. Excellent indoor water slide centre / pool on-site (but not free). The on-site theme park is free though and is good enough that you don't notice the rain. Amsterdam and the Hague not far.

Loads of threads with more info here.

Keycamp and the like often do very cheap late deals for pre-pitched or statics.

Great facilities. We really like it - been twice in the off season.

Similar concerns re the weather for us but we're happy to travel as far as needs be and to move around so we're crossing fingers & going for it. Try holland and Germany for the centerparks type of thing with camping. De Kleine Wolfe looks lovely but lots of others as well. We went to Beekse Bergen at Easter and it tipped it down all week but we still had a great time. If you've got the ACSI book it's easy to leaf through or look on the ACSI website maybe.
