We satayed there for a few days in 05 and again 2 years ago. We loved it the first time, when we went back we found they had expanded the pool area and the play area, unfortunately they had also expanded the price per night. While you would expect to pay more for better facilities, we found the price excessive for the area thIs site is in. Having said that, we felt the owners had not spoiled the lovely atmosphere that we found on this site the first time we were there.
It is a great site, I think you would be a little bored here after a week. The chateaux on the Loire are fascinating for adults, but as we found, not so much for kids!
The village of Mesland is really in the middle of nowhere so you need to drive everywhere to see anything.
The Museum and home of leonardo da vinci in amboise is unmissable, we've been twice as the whole family loved it.
I see you're travelling from Ireland, we travel to France from co Kerry every year. I feel that if you're going to make the trip, it would be nice as Berriow said to see a bit more of the country and stY the second week in another site.
Whatever you do, have a wonderful time!
By the way both times we stayed in this site, the weather was great!

Hi, yes we're travelling to France again this year, this rime heading for the alps, near Geneva. We got a great bargain of a deal on Celtic Link Ferries, Rosslare to Cherbourg return, car and caravan, 2 adults 3 children, cabins with windows- €640 return. We prefer to go direct as you arrive in France, rested, ready to go! Also we find Cherbourg is a central place to start from.
We have stayed in the Loire region many times, hard to avoid as we're always passing through. I have reviewed a lovely site near Tours on this website, called Camping L' Arada Parc. We stayed in Samaur also at Ille D'Offard, but Camping Chantapie is supposed to be better. The campsite at Chenonceaux is also lovely, the Castle there has to be one of the nicest in France.
The best campsites we've found have been the ones we found by chance. Do you have Alan Rogers campsite guidebook? It's really excellent, the reviews, we think are usually spot on. The Mitchelin Guide has a wider range of sites in it, butwith less detail.
There seems to be many Irish people on this site.
It's absolutely excellent, I have learnt so much from all the fantastic people on ukcamping, there's a wealth of experience that people are so kindly sharing, any time we've had a question or problem with the caravan, several people reply straight away, and problem solved.
If I can help anyone else in the same way, I'd be delighted.
