Hi Lucy, welcome to UKCS. I personally haven't been to this site, but it was on a shortlist last year. It's rated very highly by Eurocamp Independent (who we booked through last summer), and I believe there are quite a few members who've visited it and given good reports. Have you tried in the part of this site, under 'Overseas Sites'?There may be some reviews there.
Other than that, just bide your time 'till the members tell you their thoughts.
Friends went there last year with Canvas and enjoyed it very much. They were very tempted to go back there this year. The site isn't small and is popular with companies like Canvas and Keycamp, so not the place if you want quiet and tranquility. But with 2 teenage girls I doubt that you'd get that anyway
Going to Zagarella for my 4th year in a row for about 5 weeks with my TT.
Excellent site (around 300 pitches) with indoor and outdoor pool. Friendly site with a mix of statics and pitches. There is a good mix of nationalities including quite a few privately owned French statics. Toilets are always clean and facilities are good. Entertainment throughout the day arranged by the two animators.
I can highly recommend this site! Anymore questions, just ask.
PS. Book early as this site does fill up quickly - I provisionally booked my pitch last July.
Just in the process of booking our summer holiday - first time in the Vendee, previously been a bit further South near Royan but now feel we should try a new area. We enjoy campsites with a good international mix and pool/ping pong mates for our 12 and 14 year old boys. They are not interested in 'kids clubs' but do enjoy meeting other kids of similar age. Have narrowed the search to Camping Zagarella and Camping Les Dunes - looking for any comments on these sites and saw your postings. Would be interested in your thoughts. We plan to holiday in late August. Is the Southern Vendee very busy? is beach side parking easy? are there good body boarding waves? - is it overwhelmingly British?
Hi again, see my other reply to your post. Les Brunelles was so international that last year we were among only about 5 other British families!
Yes the beach we drove to near Longevielle ( near le Rocher I think) is good for body boarding and has a huge carpark in front with loo, lifestation ( unfortunately essential last year I am sad to say) and cafe/takeaway.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
IMHO, Camping Les Dunes is a bit up and down and the pitches are a liitle cramped. We drove roung it during the day so cannot comment on the night time entertainment.
