We have got a 15 years old Michelin Motoring Atlas France which I am using to plan routes, but is there a map which is particularly good for caravanners?Does anyone recommend any newer map?

Clare

You have the right Atlas but its just a bit out of date!!!!! If you get the spiral bound version its very easy to use in the car.

Billy - thanks for that info I shall make my way to the bookshop.

David

Hi Clare

You have a PC - Why not pick a copy of MS Auto Route... :-)

It won't show you campsties - but the options menu is great...

All the best.

If you book your holiday with C & CC they "give" you a new Michelin book of maps every time

I've got 2 books in the garage and will get another from them when we go to Brittany in May

Free to a good home

Really useful info everyone, thanks for all that.

We are intending on booking our ferry crossing with C & CC, is that enough for a map?

In France I bought the Michelin atlas at the petrol station. Covers the whole of France and is excellent.

I think that you need to book a holiday rally to get the map

They would sell you one of course

Rescued 3 of ours from the recycling box

Still looking for a home for 2 of them

Lent one to a friend and he made a mess of it so he bought us a new one !!!!!

The normal map of France has a very rough scale. All right for the main route and for planning, but the road atlas contains the detailed maps for the whole of France, ging a lot of freedom for choosing all small roads on the destination, but also for finding your route quickly when lost, plus following much more prices where you are when travelling, as all small vollages are indicated too. Also easier to choose touristic alternatives.

Our ANWB issues free planning maps for its members, indicating very clearly wihich inclination/slope of the roads for caravan to take account of. How is that in Britain? Or does the CC&C or CC?
