We are travelling to France in the summer and need to book one night into a Formula Uno/Travel Lodge type hotel on the way down. We have 3 small children, the youngest is just one and is still in a travel cot but all the websites seem to want us to book 2 rooms as the maximum capacity in the rooms is 4. Is it OK/possible to not mention the baby and just bring them along, claiming ignorance as we really dont want to have to book 2 rooms? I cannot find family rooms to fit us all in for any of the sites.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Instead of looking at the 'budget hotels' try looking at other websites, such as the Gites de France, or Logis de France. They offer family run hotels, which often have rooms which sleep four and a baby - and in the end may not work out any more expensive. You'll find the real budget hotels are just a double bed with a single bunk over - and quite have small rooms. Formule 1 don't have en-suite facilities either, so you might be climbing over the cot to get out of the room!
We stayed in a Logis on our way down, paying just £23.00 for a room, (which would have slept four but there were only two of us) and then had a lovely three course meal at night for 9 euros each! It had beautiful gardens, and there was even a swimming pool, though we didn't use it
Glad to hear you're sorted, Nigel, and I hope the weather is kind too!
At the moment we're having very mixed weather. When the sun's out it's VERY HOT, when it goes in there's a chill wind, and it gets VERY COLD! However, out of a four week holiday we've had four bad days, including today, so can't complain!
We have booked one room for 4 people in a Formule 1 in the past - no problem . Dad in bunk bed - Mum and 2 children in double bed a the young one in a travel cot. This was quite a few years ago and there may be more rules now perhaps because of fire safety, but Im not sure on this
We were 5 in a B&B room last week. No problems. Arrived after Reception closed but if not we would have done the same but perhaps more discretely. In fact there was so much space in the room for 4 (with a mezzanine) that I wished we had taken our inflatable mattress in with us!
