"We have webbed feet from the damp, but beautiful skin from the mud, they are just as ugly as before."
But in the morning you will be dry...
Very funny - reminds me of the Winston Churchill retort.

I do think the iwalani is inferring that tin boxes are sound proof and that those in vans don't make any noise. Not sure how that can be the case if they can hear noise while in their bedroom! In my experience you get just as much noise from all sorts of campers but the worst is TV noise and those with monotone foghorn voices.

We spent the Bank Holiday in the forest of Dean due to CC National being cancelled. It was busy, mix of campers (mostly and caravans). We had tenters either side of us, nice folk.

The children were polite and well behaved.

Yes the kids were playing near our van-a bit noisy at times but so what?

You need to have a bit of give and take?

However it was quiet in the evenings

It was nice to see kids and their parents enjoying themselves in the fresh air.

We have none of our own but SWMBO is a health visitor and I am a lecturer so used to kids/young folks.

Felt sorry for them in the wet though!

The couple one side arrivedw ith a medium sized tent, 2 growing lads, and dog-went out and came back with a new much bigger tent which they put up and moved into!

Must have been fed  up with being cramped!

But a good time had despite 2 wet days! Forest sites are good but big!

Got to share this - not a dig at campervans but did make us chuckle.
We were on a site near Die surrounded by tents. Then a huge campervan turned up and parked over the road in front of us blocking out the sun. They proceeded to play with the satellite dish and then reversed into the pitch next to our tent. Played with the satellite again and then disappeared into the van to watch tv.
They left soon after breakfast. I say they - there was clearly another bod as while the man was playing with the satellite dish some-one was telling him what the reception was like but we never saw them.

Just tickled me -we were there enjoying the sun and the area, they arrived at 4pm and left at 10am without setting foot outside their van. Couldn't hear the tv though and I doubt they'd have heard us or our kids. We are asleep nice and early and the boys are well trained. Although we did go for an 8am swim - with the South American chaps who I am fairly sure were in their underpants not trunks but hey ho.

That was a fun site come to think of it - might have to go back!

We had a family of four in a tent just over the fence to us in Cornwall a few years ago and played tapes of the old comedy radio shows with all the canned laughter, this was played within seconds of them returning to their tent or getting up in the morning and was not turned off while they were on site.

After a couple of days of this i politely told them to turn it off or i would put the radio in the bin that was right next to them, all was quiet from then on.

Also for the last few years at Cofton there have been 2 Welsh families in large caravans pitched next to each other who spend all day shouting at each other, well this year you can shout all you like we won't hear you because this year we are in the New Forest
