My experience with camping in Germany is good, We've alway had a pitch with el. Hook-up but the amp varies. The minimum we've had was 10 amps though and that was enough for our fridge (I have a Motorhome) and the odd light.

Germans are very fond of there leisure-time and quite, so you will notice some shops are closed on strange times or days. Sometimes it feels like a bankholliday in small villages, The Germans are friendly but they are environmentaly aware and act accordingly. Ordnung, Cleanliness and Politeness are higly appriciated.

Remember "Danke Schön" and you go far.

I hope this answers your question a bit...

Cheers!

John

Gary and Sue

Go there you will love it. I can't quite understand why it seems to be ignored by the majority of UK campers. It can't be really be distance. Don't get me wrong we love France but also like a change now and then. If you go out of the main holiday season there should be no need to book. Its well worth looking at Camping and Touring Cheques. I have a few details on my web site. For a first visit the Rhine Valley is well worth an explore with many campsites right on the river. However the Rhine is a working river so there will be some noise from the river traffic. For me it just makes it more fascinating.

German leisure time extends to "Mittags ruhe " (hope that's the spelling)

Translated it is midday quiet and is very much like siesta in France and Spain

This means that if you arrive at the site between about noon and 2 pm you won't get on until after the stroke of 2
