We're looking at taking our motorhome on a late afternoon sailing from Dover to Calais or Dunkirk. This would probably mean arriving at a campsite near to either port after dark. Is it possible to get a pitch this late? Generally, what time is the latest you can turn up to a campsite in France?
Any receommendations for sites close to Dover or Dunkirk would be much appreciated.
Cheers!
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Daughter saw a sign up at La Bien Assise the other day saying something to the effect of if you turn up after 10pm choose your pitch and we'll see you in the morning. So guess they accept late arrivals.
If you have a motorhome you don't really have to find a campsite if you are late & you just want a nights sleep. At Dunkirk you can park in the dock if you just go around roundabout & back into carpark. In Calais you have motorhome parking area on the seafront, just follow town sign from dock then follow signs to camping municipal, just past that turn right & you will see the parked motorhomes.
Alternatively drive down motorway in whatever direction you are going, go off into a town & park on a supermarket car park, nobody will bother you, we do this with a caravan & its a better option than a motorway services although plenty park on those ok.
