Dodger, I don't know anything about these "archies" but I'm assuming it's some enhancement from a third party - therefore not supported by Garmin ?
Unless someone else comes along with a specific fix, I'd be tempted to email Garmin UK support and say you were trying to disable the French camera alerts and appear to have lost the factory features. They might be able to talk you through it or give you a link to download the OEM features.
They were quite good when I started asking about France last year.
