How reliable is the weather in Brittany in August? Mainly around the Quimper area, I know nothing is guaranteed but should we expect better than anywhere in the UK?
------------- June 2nd-9th - Hirdre Fawr Farm (was a wet one)
August 19th-26th - Teifi Meadows
June 2013 - Majorca fed up with UK weather

Hi
We've stayed near Benodet a few times in August and the weather has been mixed. It's always been a bit warmer than home, mainly sunny with a few cloudy or wet days out of our 16 day holiday.
Last year while much of France was having very wet weather Brittany escaped most of it, we had lovely sunny days with only light rain a couple of times. There's no guarantee but we've not had a completely wet August holiday in Brittany out 9 or 10 trips. It's a lovely area with lots of old towns and good beaches to visit.
We have never had bad weather in Brittany, usually lots of warm days, mainly sunny with the odd shower.
You will be blessed with wall to wall sunshine!
We went to Benodet in August last year and it wasnt great weather, but the people who had been there the week before has said it was great.
We are going to Northern spain this year after last years weather but at the moment it doesnt look great there!

We have been all around Brittany in the last few weeks and the weather has been up and down to say the least! we have always managed to get out though, there is nothing like markets in the rain! we are now near Sarzeau in Morbihan (in the south) and today has been hot, but it's not looking great.

You should have popped in I would have made a cuppa.
With the gathering dark clouds it looks like rain coming. They are moving slowly so not sure which direction they are heading. Possibly east

Where are you Xantippe? we have been to St. Malo, Beg Leguer near Lannion, Concarneau and are now just south of Sarzeau. I think the wind is south west here now, the forecast on Meteo is ok for tomorrow.
Here until Saturday, then 3 sites for 2 nights each to get us back to Dunkerque for 29th. It's cloudy here too, but warm and looks as if it might brighten up.

We just had a gigantic electric storm and torrential rain I hope it didn't hit you, and soak your site. There seem to be a few decent sites around there, I was hoping to go somewhere on Monday but now have to take the car for its annual check up on Tuesday, we may get away after that. The problem living here is it is like always being on holiday so we don't really need to go away.
Thanks, no we didn't have a storm but it got very cloudy yesterday early evening (after the sun nearly threatened to come out) and then rained a little bit. Then later on a thick sea fog appeared, this morning it's raining. Pretty much like Britain now only with warmer rain!
Hope you have managed to enjoy your holiday in spite of the weather. I don't remember a worse June in 20 years but as you say it is warmer rain. We get home on 28th.
We went to Beg Meil (not far from Quimper) for two consecutive years during August a few years ago. The first year they had a heatwave whilst we were there - some days the temperature was touching 100 degrees, however the following year, the weather was very mixed, some days torrential rain and storms. Even during the bad weather though, we still found it slightly warmer than the U.K.
