We did Zeebrugge to Chatel 2 years ago......tip ' fuel up in Arlon, Luxembourg' it is so cheap here.We stopped in the Jura for one night, then across the Swiss border (Vignette chrage here) If we've done Zeebrugge to Annecy, we've usually stopped in Savigny-les- Beaune(nr Dijon) for 1 night. I guess you could do it if you did Toll route all the way but it negates the saving in the fuel costs. Reims, Troyes, Dijon. as Harry B states. Can I recommend Le Premier Pres, Savigny. You can pitch for 1 night in a beautiful village in the heart of 'wine' country, nip into Beaune, and take advantage of the ELe Clerc supermarche/ fuel just very near the motorway exit. Annecy is beautiful. AVOID the municipal in Semnoz, it had a drug raid when we were there, and is frequented by unsavoury locals. Bon Voyage

Hiya, because I was towing a large caravan, I couldnt make the alternative route work out substantially less, because of the extra fuel.
Travelling on a sunday in France is great, because the HGVs arent on the roads.
Personally, I would go straight down through France because I couldnt make the economics make it worthwhile, but others more experienced than me may differ.
With regard to two days, I am doing it in two days again this year, I found the via michelin estimate of 10 hours to be extremely conservative. When towing, its more like 13, even without traffic.
Enjoy this fabulous area! I will pass you coming back up on the 4th!

Martin, I know just the spot. We discoverded it years ago, and ALWAYS stop there if we are in the area. the sleepy village of Savigny -Les- Beaune. Just outside Beaune. The campsite is called Le Premier Pres....lovely spot and much much nicer than the one in Beaune. Check out the recommendation in the site review of this website. The facilities are superb The location is within walking distnace of the quiet village. A great spot for a stop over or a base to radiate and explore Burgundy from
