Sorry for delay,been away! Not a problem time wise, we did it from Dunkirk in about 4-5 hours. There's a campsite in Aachen itself (Aachen Platz fur Cmping) about 1.5 km from centre. Not great for extended stay but good for 1-2 nights. Easy walk into beautiful centre. Site convenient for onward travel. If you want further info put further post on.
