Hi all we were planning a trip to Lake Garda and liked the sound of Bella Italia caravan site in the Eurocamp catalogue it says that we can't use our gas barbeque but can't say why not. I have tried to email the site three times but no reply. Is this just a breakdown

in translation or can anybody out there think of a valid reason why they should ban gas barbeques

Why don't you ring them as they speak excellent English on reception. We don't BBQ but we used our Camping Gaz two burner cooker whilst we were there and of course anyone in a tent would have to as well. Perhaps its something that has got lost in translation unless of course no BBQ's are allowed?

yes maybe your right David it just says no gas BBQ's so maybe it is a translation problem but Eurocamp you think would know this, as when I showed concern they said we have contacted them and they confirmed no gas BBQ's . But as you say best to ring them. Thanks again

By the way have you any tried and tested route to get to Bella Italia from England

When we went to Bella Italia we had already been to other large Italian lakes so not really relevant for your purposes. If I was setting out today I would go down through France using the A26 and A4 to Metz and them into Germany towards Mannheim.(some prefer to go through Belgium to avoid tolls but I am not keen) Then head for the Austrian border and either use the Fern Pass to get to Innsbruck, a slightly easier route is via Munich but its longer and from Innsbruck go over the Brenner into Italy. Access to Lake Garda is easy from here on in. Thjese are the local notes I made at the time:- Exit autostrada at Peschiera and take SP11 in the direction of Brescia, after about two kilometres turn sharp right as though  heading  back into Peschiera and campsite is immediately on your left. The entrance is large so difficult to miss!

David

Thanks David will have a look at that, when you haven't been there before I think it's always good to ask.

Hi Graham
Please could you tell me if you have an answer about BBQ's.
We are staying at Bella Italia for two weeks from next Tuesday, we were going to take out coal BBQ but from reading your posts I'm having doubts if we will be allowed to use it.
Many thanks

No mention of gas, but the following was taken directly from the site rules:

"22. The use of barbecues is permitted only in the ways and under weather conditions that do not cause any damage or danger."

Hi and thanks to everybody who replied to my query, I eventually got an answer to my email I sent to Bella Italia. It just said that they don't have any gas connection on their pitches I think it is what I thought just a mix up in translation. I hope this has been a help to you all and hope you all enjoy a good summer hoiliday. we will be booking Bella Italia this week.
