Hi everyone.   We are heading off camping near Avignon in a few days.   I'd appreciate advice from anyone that knows the area.   At this time of year are there any good beaches we could drive to - somewhere the kids (10-13) can splash about in the sea for an hour or two.   I'm wondering about finding somewhere we can park the car and how congested the roads are likely to be as a google search turned up a discussion about how busy it was and how public transport might be a better option ?

Anything else you'd recommend to see or days out.   The only time I've been down there was to cycle up Mont Ventoux and visit the beautiful gorge that runs alongside it - both of which I intend to do again and drag the kids along too (well maybe not up Ventoux on their bikes!). Is there a theme park in the area - loathe as I am to spend time in them the kids like to waste a day like that.

Thanks

It's a good hour and a half each way by car to a beach from Avignon - either Stes Maries de la Mer, or in the other direction places like Carry le Rouet and Sausset les Pins. Parking is possible at both, but difficult. The alternative is to head for the big beaches at the mouth of the Rhone delta at Piemanson Plage, but don't expect toilets and tearooms if you go down there. It's remote. And you won't need swimming costumes.

Parking problems for Avignon city can be avoided by using one of the park and rides.

I don't know of any theme parks.
