For those of you travelling by Eurotunnel..they have a suberb offer on rosé wine in Calais.
Order 6 bottles of Blossom Hill White Zinfandel / Grenache (or Echo Falls) for 17,97€. Works out at about £2.45 a bottle!
We've ordered 6 boxes of 6 (hopefully they will last until Xmas!) and will collect it at the Calais terminal on our way back from France.
There are some other offers too, but this seemed the best of them all!
****Edited to advise that you can order in advance, to collect on your way home, but you don't pay until you collect.

Wow that's dear. Buy French !
We paid 1.50 euros per litre from a good vineyard in Provence - what's that ? About 80p. a bottle ? And it WAS a good vineyard.

The point of my post was to highlight the cost of the Blossom Hill or Echo Falls range (compared to the £5-£6 a bottle you pay in the UK) - not the cheap wines you can get in France.
Depends what you like of course. I suppose lots of people do like the cheap stuff, but I've tried hundreds of the cheap ones and they've all been akin to drinking vinegar. And many were from reputedly 'good vineyards'. I've given up trying to find one I like now...it's not very cost effective when you end up cleaning the drains with it!
I like the Zinfandel grape - but even those made with the Zinfandel in France aren't to my liking. At least none that I have tried.
If you can recommend an 80p bottle of wine which is similar to Blossom Hill White Zinfandel then please do and I will definitely give it a go!

Thanks for the tip, I too love Zinfandel and may ask a freind whi is using the Eurotunnel to get some for me. I also love 'Expert Club' wine courtesy of Intermarche, which is usually priced under 3 euros a bottle. Featuring red, white and rose wines, Expert Club wines have the 'Expert Club' logo on their bottles. A lovely old Frenchman advised me of this a few years ago and now we always buy them when in France; there is an excellent Intermarche 5 mins from our campsite. We have never had a bad wine yet.

I've noted that down! Thanks for the tip - if you like it (and love Blossom Hill) then it's worth a go.

Last time ( and every other time come to think of it )I was in Lidl in Calais they were stocking their range of Australian, Chilean, South African, and Californian varietal wines, including Zinfandel, for 1.99 euros. A great bargain, and good wine.
