Do you mean Aires as in autoroute stopping places or do you mean places for an overnight stop.

Do you mean Aires de Camping Cars, I see you have a motorhome?

If so, there are 2 a bit further from Abbeville, on the coast, 1 at St Valery sur Somme, and 1 at Le Crotoy. Both are payable, the one at St Valery is 8 Euros for the night, not sure about Le Crotoy. Both are nice towns in their own right, St valery has a medieval part, it is walkable from the Aire, albeit a fairly steep walk!

Le Crotoy is right by the harbour, and a very big Aire, lovely little town too.

We've stayed at St Valery 2 or 3 times, never at Le Crotoy. St Valery's Aire is quite small, and quieter than Le Crotoy.

Thanks for that, but we are only traveling through and were hopeing someone would know aire de camping cars along the route. We do know a couple of sites at both Abbeville and around Le mans but money is tight this year and if we pay campsite fee,s on the way south there will be less when we get to the sun ( hopefully ).

You can stay free of charge at the Aire de la Baie de Somme, but this is on the Peage A16 autoroute (with a toll).  If you want to do non-toll you'll have to go on one junction before, or at the Abbeville end and head towards Boulogne.

Similarly, just to the north of Le Mans, there is a good autoroute aire, where we've stayed in the past (we make a note of them in our Michelin Atlas).  I haven't got it with me and can't remember the name, but I do remember how pleasant it was.

Sorry, don't know of any Aires that close to the route near there. I realise you are only looking for an overnighter and both St Valery and Le Crotoy are not that far from the A28, probably around 10 miles each way, and at 8 Euros for the 1 night, I wouldn't have thought that was too expensive in the overall cost of a holiday. Most of the Aires are off the main road and in that particular area on, or very near to, the coast, so you'd have to come off either the N1 or A28 to get to any of them.

Val's suggestion is a good one, but as she points out, it's on a Toll road, so you'd have to pay for that in any case.

Sorry, can't help other than my original suggestions.

Again thanks all for your input, we will look out for these and ( suck it and see ) sometimes just going and coming across somewhere works out best. I suppose asking these questions is just part of getting exited about the upcoming trip..
