Anyone know about WIFI at this site? Is it just in the bar or all over the site? Heading there at the end of the week and trying to work out how we're going to keep watching the Olympics. I know they'll probably have it on in the bar area but with 2 young kids that won't always be an option. Don't really want to go down the route of getting a satellite dish if I can avoid it. Firstly because not sure how it would work and secondly would never use it again after this week.

Please be aware though, that BBC iPlayer, and Sky go etc, Probably will not work outside of the UK, due to Licenine issues. (It Can be done if you know a few tricks) but you may be able to get a local VOD service, but the commentary may well be in the Local Language.

Might be worth getting a USB TV adapter for your laptop off of ebay for about a tenner, This way you do not need WIFI at all.

Can't comment about whether you will get to watch the Olympics or not. However, regarding wifi generally we got a great reception on our pitch last year, but we were near the bar/swimming pool area. Saw lots of people sat by the bar and near the office. Great site btw. We never go back to the same place, but we really liked it.

Thanks for the replies. Glad to hear site is as good as it looks.
How does the USB TV adapter thing work? The whole TV in the caravan is new territory for me!!

Hi,

As An example of USB Tv Tuner

This comes with all you need, Install the Software, Plug in the USB device, connect the Ariel, and away you go.

It turns your laptop into a TV and the device acts as a freeview box, This one Comes with a remote control.

I am not recommending any particular one over another, but there is a lot on Ebay for a bout £10, some are dual tuners, ie watch 1 channel and record another etc.

The Ariels may not be that great, but if it has a Coax you should be able to put any Ariel into it.

I did have one, alas my Laptop has been upgraded to 64 bit Windows 7, and the software and drivers are not compatable, but back in 2010, we used it to Watch the World cup in Poload, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. We had local language commentary, but there were some programs in english too.

If you have an IPad use app Filmon Plus for tv channels. You will still need wifi to watch. In the Dordogne at the moment and have been able to watch BBC Olympics with a bit of buffering.

Hi We were there in June courtesy of Canvas Hols. Our daughters boyfriend brought his ipad - WIFI did work in our caravan but not in those further from the signal (daughter and boyfriend called to see us rather a lot as their van was further away!). We were about four rows back, approx a third to half way back from the reception area. This is certainly better than many sites which seem only to work close to the signal.

So I guess the idea would be to get a pitch as close to reception (or wherever the signal was coming from)as possible.

Four years ago it was on in the bar but there is an open air veranda where we sat and watched with our kids. As we have seen this week the coverage is 'international' anyway. You just may not understand the commentary!

Have a lovely time

Thanks again everyone. Looks like we have 3 options: streaming with wifi, USB TV tuner and the bar! So we' ll be able to keep watching the Olympics one way or another.
