HI we are travelling back via the Pont Du Normandy on Saturday and would like to know if the road works are still in place as it caused a massive jam on our way down to the Vendee last week.
Thanks

Just checked online and on THIS WEBSITE it says the raodworks are there until the end of August (Jusqu'à la fin du mois d'août des travaux de réfection de la chaussée du Pont de Normandie et du viaduc du Grand Canal provoquent des bouchons.)
Could you not travel via Rouen as an alternative? I believe that this Saturday, the first Saturday in August, is normally the worst for travelling, so the bridge could be even worse. Just an idea.
We had some dutch friends heading towards my parents house near Caen who got stuck for nearly 2 hours on a sunday evening!!! I am heading there on Friday and i will go via Rouen from Calais to avoid these roadworks....

GraemeStuart99: - you won't actually go through Rouen itself, you'll skirt around the ring road - admittedly it will be busy but you can avoid the dead centre. However, sounds like all the fuss may be over sooner than we thought.

Travelled back up last week nothing in sight. The way down had been a pain, especially with ignorant Brits not following the signs and trying to overtake the queue.....
