Been here a week, and to be honest quite underwhelmed. Nothing really wrong with the site, but after reading people's reviews on here I was expecting something a bit "special". Weather doesn't help though, we came from the dordogne which was 34c and sunny to the vendee which is around 10c cooler and had quite a bit of rain.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We arrived on the 30th, weather has been very much like the uk. Next week looks slightly better. Had a look at la garangoire and also camping pong. Tbh. Biggest disappointment for me is that the cycling around the lake is not suitable for children. We brought the bikes with us and only used them once.
Were you after a site more full on like la garangoire.....what do you mean nothing really working?
Been twice and back in a weeks time.....a bit worried having read that!
:)
------------- Fab time in France again.... Roll on next year!

How old are the children? Ours are 8 and 10 and we were hoping to go on a bike ride round the lake with the kids. We usually take bikes with us but if we can't use them direct from site not sure if we'll bother. Hope you're enjoying youselves despite the dissapointments.
Diary note for next year : If you want safe cycling go to La Palmyre - miles of cycle paths through the forest to the dunes by the sea, and more miles along the seafront promenade from La Palmyre village centre

Argente - We cycled around the lake with ours aged 8 & 10 without any problems. A couple of hilly, rocky bits but we just got off and pushed. We went from garangeoire to Guyonniere and then onto the auberge du Jaunay .
If you stick the bikes on the rack and go to the coast there are lovely cycle paths along the coast too.
It's quite a big site so bikes were handy for the kids to ride around on to the park and pool anyway.

That's exactly how I'm feeling at the moment, but i don't think finances (or the driver!) will allow us to travel any further. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Weather has been a bit hit and miss but looking better for this week.
We know la palmyre well, just thought we would try somewhere new.
Like I said , nothing wrong but after reading what people have written I was expecting to be amazed.
With regards to cycling, our children are 5 and 7, and really struggled with the tracks around the lake, admittedly mainly our youngest but it is not at all flat very hilly terrain and narrow around the lake.
