Going to L'Ardechois at Vallon Pont Darc end of August beginning September for our first visit to the Southern Ardeche.
Would really welcome any advice on must see + dos + any guidance on good sources of info.
Cheers.

Canoeing down the river - even the mini-descent is fantastic but take plenty of water, and a picnic. You'll need them. The Pont d'Arc Gorges de l'Ardeche Market in Vallon Friday market in Ruoms Market in Aubenas La Beaume - swimming, nice square, and pebble beach Balazuc - swimming, touristy shops and beach - walk to Le Viel Audon (Eco Village) Aigueze (bottom end of the Ardeche Gorge) Walk or drive up to the Rocher de Samzon for some amazing views Just spend time in the river at Vallon! On a wet day go down a cave (if the replica Grotte Chauvet is open make that the one). On less than perfect days a trip to the Pont du Gard and Nimes is worthwhile The Cascades de Sautadet - and Goudargues on the way or way home. The Saturday market at Uzes - which is highly recommended, but VERY busy - get there early.
Our favourite ever campsite in Europe - most amazing loo blocks ... more like a posh sports club! And the kiddies loos and showers are gorgeous. It's big enough to have all the facilities but small enough to be friendly.
Avoid the very hectic main supermarket in the town (full of newly arrived tourists who don't know their way round) and head to Lidls - much quieter and only a couple of km from the site' heading out of Vallon on the D579.
Take some lilos for just lazing about in the river when the weather is hot - it was 43 degrees when we were there a few years back!
Yes, avoid the Intermarche in Vallon, rip-off central. As mentioned by BC take the short drive to Lidls or go a little further up the road to the best supermarket in the area, SuperU at Roums.
If going to the market at either Vallon or Roums get there nice and early as parking is horrendous.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Take the N102 towards Brioude bypassing the town, then the N88 bypassing LePuy, towards Langogne, and back on the N102 towards Aubenas, then at Aubenas the road to Vallon is signposted. The route is a series of very long and winding hills upwards, and then steeper hills on the way down, but there are some spectacular views especially if the gorse is out on the hillsides.

Thanks so much for the very much appreciated + very needed info, don't know what I'd do without this site + all the very helpful contributions to our holiday, an absolute gold mine.
Just got to print it all off now + start another list!
Cheers + happy hols.
