We are going to France for 2 weeks in a campsite with EHU. I am thinking of taking my slow cooker to use in the tent. Is that a good idea and is it safe to leave it in the tent all day? thanks

Certainly is a good idea, and it gives you the chance to use all the veg you see in the supermarkets we never see in Tesco. French butchers are full of the low quality cuts ideal for slow cooking and max flavour. Esp rabbit and oxtail. If youre adventureous think about " tripes a la mode de Caen". We take ours everytime.

We take ours too leave it on all day in van no problem Just make sure its on a steady footing and away from tent walls

i think you'll end up with mass condensation if left in the tent, a porch or something would be fine but watch out for local wildlife if left unattended.

Never had that problem ... but usually leave it on in the awning area ... as for local wildlife ... at that temperature, they're welcome! Adds more to the flavour! Mind you, we've never experienced any interference from non human fauna!

Hi I take mine and leave it under the eeves of the private bathroom pod( where ther electric point is)have had no problem withwild life.

It suits my family as I am an early riser and can start peeling, chopping ,browning whilst everyone is still sleeping and have the tea for next two days ready then all I do is cook some tinned green beans add packet of noodles to beef bourguigone/or crusty bread/or send hubby to buy portion of chips,and let family do washing up as It was loads of cooking for 2 days (honest)sit and finish a book and some left over red wine,bliss

Presumably a little left over from the cooking the beef bourguigone ... one of the perks of cooking ... though, at that time of the morning I'm usually till in 'recivery mode' from the night before!

Yes the wine is left over from the cooking,and other than as small taste to check it is not off , I wait until the sun. Is over th yardarm to drink,
I don't waste the quality stuff in cooking,although some cooks would say differently

Yes. Drink the wine and do quick cooking rather than slow. Who wants casseroles when it's 40C in the shade?

40 in the shade? Maybe, if you are eating lunch ... but we usually get back to the FC after a long day out... knackered from walking or biking or other ... and to be able to sit down in the cooler evening, having had a shower ... then G&T, followed by just dishing up from the SC and uncorking a bottle is my idea of paradise.
