I need to spend one night (caravan) on Calais docks, if safe, and possible at end of September. Two geriatrics.

Please help, directions would be welcome.

Its within the Port complex although before check in. Unless its changed you enter the Docks in the direction of the check in booths but turn right into the car park. Expect it to be noisy with all soirts of vehicles coming and going all night. Can't answer whether its safe but have never heard of any problems. Is there a reason for staying on the car park as opposed to a campsite?

I have stopped there twice a year for the last 10 yrs. Never had any problems.

I always have a late sailing so no time to get to campsite.

We have stayed there a couple of times and it was fine. Not many places left at midnight early September. We didn't notice any comings and goings in the night and there is a police presence in the car park. You follow the signs for vehicles without tickets which takes you into the car park.

My directions were from the motorway driving to the port. If you are coming off the ferry, make sure you go all the way around the first roundabout to get into the car park.

Hi Mavisann. We have parked here both "coming & going". All the above posters are correct. I would add, however, that you take sufficient water with you in the 'van. There is water/toilets within the terminal building but it could be quite a hike from where you are parked. Showers are in the Arrivals side of the terminal building if required.
