Am thinking of going to France next year and was wondering when you take a dog on a ferry where does the dog stay while you are on board? Have asked friends who have been but they havent taken a dog with them.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
You can book your cat or dog on board P&O ferries with Ferrysavers.co.uk. PPets travelling between Dover and Calais must remain in the vehicle. Between Hull and Rotterdam/Zeebrugge, pets must be left in the airconditioned kennels provided. Foot passengers must leave pets in lockable containers that are able to withstand being secured to the ferry. Note that that to take your pet to and from the UK to mainland Europe (excluding Ireland) you will need a pet passport
As Fathe says, on the short crossings the dog stays in the car on the car deck. On the longer crossings the dog can stay in kennels. Many people, taking their pets, use Eurotunnel where the pet is in the car with you on the crossing.
Further to the above, I believe Brittany Ferries also have a small number of "dog friendly" cabins on the Spain crossings, where you can keep your dog with you.
