We'll be staying at one of these sites for a few days in the second week of September. The trouble is, they both sound excellent from the reviews, so I can't decide which one! Any advice on which site would be better for a couple of 50-somethings with a caravan, looking to have a day or 2 in Paris, a day at DLP and explore the area by bike weather permitting, would be very welcome.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We have just returned from 4 nights at 4 vents on our was back from the Vendee. It was lovely. The staff were v friendly and really helpful after my husband had his wallet stolen on the subway in Paris. It was 10mins drive to a station and then about a 40min train journey into Paris Centre and it took about 20 mins drive to DLP. The pool was lovely- a bit cold at first but then the weather became roasting so it was a welcome relief. The takeaway did the best Pizza of our holiday, the pitch sizes large and flat. I haven;t stayed at the other site but would def return to 4 vents if passing nearby. I will be doing a review soon.
4 Vents is is family commercial site, L'Etang is VERY french. Travel time to Disney is very similar. L'Etang is half the price of 4 vents if you use an ACSI card (which is valid there in September) We paid £13 Euros/night last year.
Both are good sites
Enjoy
Simon
I would suggest that, if you are the sort of person who dislikes children hareing around on bicycles unaccompanied by adults, 4 Vents is not for you. Personally, I loved the place. I've never been to the other so cannot comment.

Don't object to children (and presumably there won't be huge numbers of them in September anyway), don't mind "French" sites, and both are €16 euros a night with the ACSI card. Sounds like whichever we choose will be good.
Have been to Le 4 vents about 5 times. Recommend. Large pitches, organised and tidy. This visit (last week) we went to look at Les Etang Fleuris out of interest. Narrow access roads, further from Disney (if you are going there), more cramped and untidy looking, toilet blocks looked older and it had a feel of needing updating. We will still go to Le 4 vents for future visits.
have stayed at 4 vents many times during first 2 weeks of october and we have been the only ones there for most of the time also stayed during july when it is busy
Strangely i've also been looking at these to sites for our summer holidays for next year, from reading all the reviews there dosent seem that much in it, weve never been camping in france before, are the sites easy to find xxx
Hi
We are currently at Les Etangs having spent the first part of our holiday at La Croix.
Les Etangs is a lovely quiet site. Lovely pitches separated by tiny hedges, not regimental plenty shade if needed. The toilet blocks although not super modern are clean and the toilet roll dispenser always full (unlike La Croix).
Very pleasant bar area with outside seating. Lovely owners, laid back feel to the site. A place to relax I would sum it up as. 19.6 easy miles from Disneyland (yes I clocked it Iol).
If you are after a fun action packed holiday I don't think this is the site for you. I can't comment on 4vents as haven't been but hope this has been of some help.
I have been to both sites and preferred 4 vents. I have used both sites for visiting Paris and DLP and they are about 20 minutes from DLP. Have only been during school holidays and did not find 4 vents packed with children, the swimming pool is 'icey' and quite deep for small children, so is not really suitable if you have toddlers. These are only my opinions, but 4 vents was the one we preffered.
