Just a suggestion, from someone who's been to the Ardeche area a lot, it isn't really an ideal destination for a very large motorhome, and you would need a very large one to accommodate four adults and three children. The roads are narrow, there are lots of rocky overhangs and tunnels through the rocks in the southern Ardeche and along the Gorge de l'Ardeche. There are lots of sight-seeing opportunities where access is quite tight - La Beaume, Balazuc, Vogue, and others where you'd have problems with a very large vehicle. It might be better to think of hiring a mobile home, somewhere central like Vallon Pont d'Arc where you can walk into the town for shopping and the market, and then hiring a car locally when you want to go out somewhere. You can hire large multi-seater vehicles - we were supplied with a nine seater minibus when our car broke down, and the kids loved it!
The campsite L'Ardechois used to arrange car hire - but it's a long time since we were there and I'm not sure if that is still the case.
Whilst Aires de Camping Car can be Ok for couples, I wouldn't think of using them with three children under five. They'll need play space, good washblocks, and other chidlren around. Aires de Camping Car are usually the haunt of more mature couples, without children.
