as mentioned above - the further the better. Provence shoiuld be an ideal spot Depends if you expect to travel that far and if you have the time to go so far We also self cater - but we find the French supermarkets more expensive overall - the beer , wine are cheaper but meat cheese bread is more expensive try using camping cheques - google it - and sites will be cheaper
