We are currently just outside Colmar in alsace leaving tonight to head up to Calais. We will be arriving in the early hours and was wondering if La Bien Assise has an area put aside for late arrivals? We intend to stay the Saturday night before heading home on Sunday morning.
If anyone else can recommend a safe aire to stop at in the vicintiy of Calais or within a hour or two of it that would be grand.
thanks.

Hi
We stayed at Bien Assise last night- I did not notice any place for late arrivals, sorry. The pitch we were given was very noisy and would not recommend anyway.
Don't think the place is locked at night, we've certainly arrived at 10.30, pitched up and paid in the morning. And people leave very early to catch ferries etc.

Have been to Bien Assise half a dozen times and never had a problem with noise. Everything has always been excellent. I usually email ahead and make a reservation and always use ACSI Camping Card. If you email/telephone them they will tell you whereto park I would think.
If you are coming up A25 from Lille turn left at Dunkirk onto A16 towards Calais & go off at J51 then follow campsite sign at Grand Ford Phillpe. You will see a large carpark by river on right, stop on there & then carry on to campsite in the morning. You are in a quiet town so quite safe on car park.

Hello
We were placed next to the road that runs behind the reception. Very busy, with cars in the evening, and then with the heavy trucks going to the quarries in the early morning. The shower block we used was very tired (the lower one is so much better) and we were so glad we had not paid more- about 17 euros with ACSI.
The previous night we had stayed in a really good municipal site in Bourges whose facilities were far better- even having a heated shower block and paid about the same.

We were pitched alongside the road this year & found it very noisy which isn't ideal when you've got a longish travel the following day. Wouldn't use it again.
A bit late now....but as you enter the site, before the green gates there is a pull in on the right. If the gates are open I would just pull in on the first left and pitch on the gravelly area for the night and pay in the morning.
