That's useful for us too Wendy, thanks. Watching the walkthrough video, that area is a bit too close to the swings for us, so we'll rely on the site owners guidance for a sunny but quiet Grand Confort pitch, if one exists.

Just waiting to hear from them. Might try ringing on Monday if I'm brave enough.

Getting really excited now. All ferries and overnights in France and England booked, just need the site. The other sites mentioned all look good but I'm slightly put off by the lack of recent reviews on them.

Conversely, Capeyrou has lots of excellent reviews all from this year's visits. So Beynac for us, hopefully.

Thanks for putting us on to it Wendy. The reviews and campsite guidebooks we have are all useful but sometimes there's just too much choice. Good then to have a pointer

Hi Wendle

Le Caperyou looks lovely, only thing that seems to be missing is direct access to the river. Pictures of the actual access and "plage" seem to be conspicuous by their abscense on the actual website even the campsite map shows an arrow to the plage but no indication how far or what to expect when you get there. Can you advise please.

Le Capeyrou is fenced alongside the river with a small access gate to the riverside path. To find a 'plage' you would need to walk upriver to the Pont de Fayrac. (5-10 minutes max walk)

Or you can drive round to the bridge ... about three minutes ... out of the campsite, turn right towards Sarlat, then first on right takes you past the tennis courts (bookable at the campsite office) and down to the bridge ... 'beach' and boat hire.
Bordering the western side of the campsite is a little lane that leads down to a boat slipway ... also accessible if you turn right after passing though the little gate ... another 'beach' area there, too.

Hi Wendy
On your original question, we found Le Moulin de Fondbleu at Montignac this year. Smallish, very friendly staff - have yet to do the write-up. About 10 min stroll from town, with lovely riverside restaurants and lively cultural scene. Just down the hill from Lascaux caves.

 we did a over night stop in Souillac cant remember the campsite name but it is at the side of the river and just five mins walk into town.
