Hi all, sorry in advance for this probably basic question but I've never booked an overseas site through camping and caravan club. I have booked a site and ferry and have printed off my confirmation but do you get real ferry tickets sent to you as I'm not convinced that that will be enough to travel with. Once again, my apologies for my ignorance.

Thanks for that hacksaw bob, just a little concerned at the lack of paperwork. I only have one reference and that's the camping and caravan club booking ref. is that really all I'll need?

Don't know what ferry route you are using, but this year P&O Dover/Calais we didn't even have to produce anything....they were using vehicle plate recognition cameras!!

Going on Newcastle to Amsterdam. Never done that either so whole holiday of unknowns. We usually travel down and get the tunnel and camp in France booking everything separate.

"Booking confirmation reference (eight-digit number)

...Please make a note of this reference number or print a copy so that you can present it at check-in. DFDS Seaways does not issue paper tickets."

(Followed by the sailing and check-in dates and times etc)

Just received an email, it states that travel documents will be forwarded 3 -4 weeks prior to departure..... Had me worried then. But looks ok.

When we have used them the reference is all that is required.

You get a Booking Confirmation at time of booking, then a Confirmation Invoice at about 6 - 10 weeks prior to travel.

Just check the you have given them the correct number plate or that they have typed it correctly.

DFDS at Newcastle use number plate recognition. They greet you by name as you pull up at the booth and you just present your passports.
