looking for a few ideas for sites in Dordogne , outdoor pool, decent showers & a reasonably quiet location are what we are after, so anyone who has used such a site in that area could pass on the details , there seems to be so much choice & dont want to make the wrong choice. We go mid June so dont expect any problems getting a pitch at that time.
cheers

hi try www.lapalombiere.fr or www.leportedelimeuil.com. by the way the dordogne is very quiet during june, if its your first time you must visit domme a bastide town with wonerful views, the saturday market at sarlat(get there early)
Bev & Jon - only just caught up with your post. Busy faffing - need a holiday now, never mind the summer! Camping Bel Ombrage would appear to fit the bill. Located about 10Km from Sarlat it has a decent open air pool, very good shower/toilet facilities and decent pitches. It is also very reasonably priced - features in CC Travel Brochure.
No entertainment on site but only 800m walk to nearby village of St Cybranet with mini supermarket, very friendly garage (hope you don't need them, like I did), restaurant/bar. The site itself is very close to Chateaux's Castlenaud and Beynac, Domme and numerous other activities or sights of interest.
I am off there again this summer mid Aug when the whole area quietens down - didn't get to see everything the area in 2004. Expect Jun will be quiet as well. Enjoy wherever you end up.

Try Chateau le Verdoyer. It is the North of Do0rdogne. www.verdoyer.fr is the site. it is ver peaceful. 2 pools. Lake Lovely villages to visit nearby. eg St Jean de Cole. Restaurant takeaway bar etc. We had a great time there
anyone been to or heard anything about camping les 2 Vallees near Beynac , that is advertised in this months CC magazine. Ive e-mailed them etc but yet to get a reply , strange really as its open all year round , maybe they dont like us Brits ??
cheers for all your reccomendations , keep em coming ..

Strange conclusion to come to as they have taken the trouble to advertise in a UK magazine!!!

thats what i thought , but as they aint answering my e-mails regarding a booking query , they obviously aint too bothered about getting Brit customers so i will take my custom elsewhere, plenty of choice
How big are the pitches at Bel Ombrage. I've booked with them, told them I've a twin axle etc and I just hope they understand my broken French. We go end of July for a week and then move to Royan for 3 weeks so I suspect we wont see you there.
There is a mixture of sizes. Difficult to tell but I think most are about 100m2. I booked last year thru the CC - our pitch was ample for twin-axle Nightstar, awning, pup tent plus car.
We won't get there until 16 Aug when the crowds thin out abit so we won't see you. I sure you will enjoy it - its a nice site in a lovely area.
