We live in the north of England and are planning to come down south a few days before departure to St Malo from Portsmouth next summer. Problem is ferry leaves about 8:15pm and you have to depart most sites at midday. Sites I am looking at are only about 2hrs away from Portsmouth. Any idea how we fill the gap with caravan in tow?

Try Loveders farm campsite, Chichester, only about 20 mins away from ferry. We have used them a couple of times and they are very accomodating. Moved our van to a large grassed layby on site, then went out for the day. Cost then, about a fiver...

Book an extra night on your UK site, then you can leave when you wish as they won't be expecting you to go until the following morning
