OOOOOh, where can you start, so exciting........personally with 4 young kids you want to go coastal, i would book a ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff and head either for southern brittany or to the vendee.
Several sites, reviewed on my profile, all of which have plenty going on and all of which i would go back to.
France is perfect for camping and once youve been once you will become addicted.
Any questions just ask

You could possibly see if there is anything you fancy on the ACSI Card site - www.campingcard.co.uk.  You buy the ACSI card and book, and the sites in the book are in one of three bands, 12, 14 or 16 euros, which is per night for two adults, car and caravan, awning, and electricity (or tent/motorhome/whatever) - BUT some ACSI sites also include 3 children up to the age of 6, in that price, so you'd only have to pay a small supplement for the fourth child.

I've just had a look and there are sites, which do the 3 children deal, which take the card from the 19th August and some even do 7 nights for the price of 6.  You need to click the tick box 3 children under 6, and then type in just one overnight date.  You won't find any during July, but will towards the back end of August.  Even if you paid full price for the first week you could save a fortune on the second week on such an ACSI site.

It depends whether you are up for a drive. I really recommend camping Aquarius in Northern Spain - it is a 10-12 hour drive from Cherbourg, so is possible with one stop. Ideal for 6 and 7 Yr as they can have alot of freedom on site - there are always enough British kids and lots to do on the campsite.

Hello,
Wow you are going to have a great time.

If you get the chance go to Pay de Fou with them it will just be amazing for all of you.

I would swap sleeping the kids in the awning to putting them in the van and you go in the awning.

Also there are some lovely smaller campsites which have pools and are a bit quieter and cheaper which you should have a think about.

Where about's are you in Somerset as I am from there too?

We like the Vendee...Bel La Tranche, Zagarella at Longville sur Mer, Les Ecureils at St Hilaire de Riez and Bon Anse Plage at La Palmyre...all have been very good.

Have fun planning and deciding.

We take our grandkids to yelloh village at cote de nacre, in normandy. There is an excellent pool complex and a good swing park, with inflatable bouncy castles. There are organized kids events also, although our kids were not interested in them

We went to Camping de la Plage in southern Brittany which is a small site but right next to the beach and with the usual play park etc. Really friendly and safe. Another option if you fancy is De Lilse Bergen in Belgium, we got the ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland. Its set is a pine forest with a swimming lake and beach and has the best playground ever!! Got karts for hire and mini golf on site too, all very reasonable and means you don't need to drive during the day if you don't want to. Its really quiet at night too so hopefully you could get the kids to sleep and enjoy a light refreshment!

Enjoy planning/researching

Tracey
