Hi all. We are venturing to France again this year (haven't been for 3). Previously camped at domaine de drancourt in Picardy and were looking to return, however recent reviews have been awful and so wondered if anyone can recommend a good site with a pool near the coast. One other problem we have is swimming attire. OH can't wear tight attire due to scarring on his leg so somewhere without that rule would be fab,
Any ideas anyone please?
Many thanks in advance

We are travelling from newcastle via Dover Calais but we're sharing driving so don't mind a bit further south. Sun would be nice tho we've been lucky so far in Picardy. We are also toying with the idea of travelling Portsmouth to dieppe which would also allow more driving in France.
Yep we have done Newhaven-Dieppe many years ago, in fact back then it was an 8 hour crossing, but now only takes 4 hours, although with only two sailings per day it does not leave many options, and for us will require an overnight close to Newhaven, and normally our first overnight is always in France.
We will be going Newhaven-Dieppe in July 2014 and taking the almost none Toll road route down to Cap d'Agde.
Despite the fact for our Car+Trailer the Newhaven-Dieppe crossing costs around £270 return compared to the £58 return we pay for Dover-Dunkerque, the saving in Tolls, miles and time, along with one less overnight stop, the costings almost cancel each other out.

Also looking at Portsmouth - Cherbourg Ferry. We're hoping to get closer to a bit of sun and someone has said Brittany is meant to be quite good. Anyone stayed anywhere here?
take a look at le ragis, challans (also on the vendee) - we have a static there so can answer any questions you might have. the site was updated last year after seeming to go backwards the year before when the owners daughter left. a new reception area has been built near the entrance and a new take away snack bar next to it.
the pool was monitored throughout the summer, by a guy (nelson) who is now employed at the site to do just that, he also speaks english and works at the reception, so the issues re youths around the pool were resolved! the large pitches were also restored to their well kept condition and were cut a lot more regularly
there are site reviews available via the search button on this forum , the latest ones from 2011 are very honest descriptions of the site as it was then (we were very dissapointed in the way it seemed to be going!) but last year it was back to being what it is, a very french site!
